Is Hollywood Florida a safe place to live? I asked this question 2 days ago, but got no answers to my question. I am interested in maybe moving to Hollywood Florida and would like to know is there a lot of crime there? I live in Detroit now and there is a lot of random killings here along with robberies, rapes, home invasions, and drugs all over this city. I am scared to live here now, and would like to move some place where I am not in constant fear for my safety. I need to be able to live someplace where criminals are not hiding on the side of my house to rob me when I leave out in the morning to go to work. Also, is the cost of living expensive there? Is the cost of living very expensive in Hollywood Florida? Clubber: I can barely even understand your answer.

Do you like my ideas for Hollywood films? Morgan Freeman - An African American (in the year 2041) finds happiness in studying linguistics as a hobby while he faces problems. His two sons want to be part of a secret corporate gang, which means people who place advertisements reckless. Eddie Murphy is his attorney and gives him good advice though the is troubled with woman problems. Bow Wow is a young man from the streets who has skills but he doesn't know what to do with his life. Dr. Dre is a civic adolescent councellor who Morgan Freeman sends him to. That changes Bow Wow's life and Morgan Freeman finds some happiness. George Clooney George Clooney is a bank owner and his banks are being robbed with no evidence of a crime. Hackers are sending floating magnetic robots into a bank and, they hide very well. They know how to get out of a man's range of vision. The robots can hack computers and steal millions. The hackers are caught and George Clooney argues and argues that 30 years in prison is too harsh for 15 year old teenagers. It ends with a dramatic court scene. Matt Damon Matt Damon can't hold down a job. He's argumentative. He lives in a cloudless city in Florida. One day a friend invites him to Japan for a gift holiday. There, he can communicate In English-Japanese perfectly with technology in real time. But he loses a game of Mahjong with crooked gangsters. The way Matt Damon uses rhetoric angers them. They take him for a drive into the country, and lock him in the attic of an old woman's home. The woman is known to be very strange and she doesn't get visitors. In the attic, Matt Damon finds antiques which are very important to the Government. Matt doesn't touch them, but he writes extensively about each one in Japanese. His techno-glasses display Japanese writing and all he must do is copy. The Japanese Government award him $250,000 and the American people give him another $250,000. He returns to America to find work. He is recommended to a museum, where he works, and the remainder of a film is a romantic comedy. He meets Gretchen, a beautiful Austrian girl and they are soon married. Fast forward 30 years. Matt Damon and the Austrian beauty are happily married with 4 kids and 16 grandchildren. One night, some friendly Japanese men arrive at his home. They say he is now in Japanese history books.

Where can I buy sexy clubbing clothes in Kansas City? I am going on a spring break trip to Florida, and I know one of the nights we are going to go clubbing florida style. I want to buy a hot outfit to wear. I hate buying clothes online, and I am thinking a Fredricks of Hollywood style outfit. Unfortunately, there isn't one in KC, and I don't want to make a long trip. Other than Victoria's Secret, where is a place in KC that would be good at finding a perfect outfit?
A game called Real life.? Hi there, I had a really good idea that could be made into a game, the name of the game would be called, "Real Life," A game where it’s based on a real person life. You could get a job or switch to a different, earn money(get different amounts of money depending on the job you have), go shopping for clothes, furniture ,clothing accessories, appliances, swimming pools, and so much more. You would have your own apartment that you could customize, create your own character, and live and switch to 6 different cities, New York City, Hollywood, California, San Francisco, California, Holalola, Hawaii, Orlando, Florida, and Malibu, California. There could be restaurants and food markets to buy and eat food . Your person would have a food bar an a toilet bar to see if they need more food or to go to the bathroom. Hollywood, California, San Francisco, California, Holalola, Hawaii, Orlando, Florida, and Malibu California should have a beach place to go to and there would be stores to go to like ice stores. Your person should be able to swim in the ocean but not to far. I always wanted a game like that. That’s my idea. Think about and see if you guys like that idea to be made in it a game. Leave a comment if you like it or not.

Need help with Fall Wedding Planning. Location, tips, advice, opinions, suggestions? I'm getting married November 2, 2011. Yes, it's in like two months haha. We are planning a small wedding with 30-40 people, 50 at the most. We want to find a nice location somewhere within the city limits of Hollywood & Miami in Florida. Somewhere we can have the wedding and the reception. The food is already set. I need the venue though, so I can send out the invitations. ANY INVITATION IDEAS?? I bought my dress 9 months ago, but i need to get it dry cleaned; any good suggestions on what place to take it to? I also need a veil; any suggestions on where to buy one? I also want to get my hair/make-up/nails done, any suggestions who to go to? I also need some flowers, just some bouquets and maybe some decorations. Music is taken care of. A little about the Bride&Groom <3 My name is Brandy & his name is Nestor. We met on Hollywoood Beach when I was 15 and he was 16.. and have been dating since April 20, 2008. We've been together for almost 3 1/2 years. Been through everything together. We've been living together for a little over 2 1/2 years. We are getting married November 2nd. Fall wedding theme, but it doesn't have to be fall colors. I love Aqua & he loves greens :) We've been beach people since we were younger, so beach wedding is a consieration, but I kind of want to get married in a country club garden or a church, somewhere nice. Any suggestions on the wedding would be greatly appreciated :) Any cool "out there" ideas are very much welcome :) We are a young, modern, traditional&nontraditional couple. 30-40 people, 50 max. Budget is not too big, but it isn't too small :) Thank you sooooo much for your help! I expect a lot of ideas from you all! ALL ideas are welcome!
Can Anyone, Spanish people please translate this Paragraph into Spanish for me? In the summer, I went to orlando, florida with my family. We rode on a bus to the theme park from the hotel. There was alot of things to do but alot of walking to get there. We watched shows, played games and went to stores to buy souvenirs. We seen the cities new york, hollywood and san francisco built to look like the real cities, it was excellent. After we came back to the hotel we relaxed in the pool. Before we went to bed we went to eat at a restaurant. We stayed for one week before we had to drive home.
why is it that people who don't live in new york just think it's all new york city? It's really annoying to go on vacation and have people ask me where I live because the conversation usually goes like this: Person: So where do you live? Me: New York. Person: Oh! So how's the city? And it's just really annoying because I always have to say that I DON'T live in the city, I live in a suburban town an hour and a half away from the city. Saying all of New York is a city is like saying all of Florida is Disney World or all of California is Hollywood. So why is it that people from other states think that New York State is just New York City?
What cities are good cities to leave in south florida? I'm looking for a place to live in south florida and not familar with the area. I'm from Atlanta and don't know anything about there areas in south florida. I have a wife and a two year old son and want to be in an area where I know they will be safe. I've been told fort lauderdale is a good are. It is pretty expensive. I'm looking for something with two bedrooms around 800 to 1000. Are there other areas in south florida that are pretty safe to bring a family into. I was in hollywood and it seem that it wasn't the best of area. I'm going to look at a place in lauderhill, does anyone know about that area. Any input is greatly appreciatted. Thank you.
Trying to buy a car through Google Checkout.? The car is an 02 Mustang GT Cobra, 56k/m and is $2850. It is is Hollywood, Florida and i'm in Bossier City, Louisiana and they will ship it to you and allow 5 days to test drive and get it inspected before you buy, but they want the money first. how does that work on Google Checkout? Do you put the money online but Google Checkout hold it while the seller ships the mustang or does the seller get it first? Because there is a lot of auto frauds on Google Checkout I just wanted to get the voice of other who have maybe used it or to see what their opinion about it is.

Road trip from Florida to California; need suggestions!!!? At the end of the school year, me and three friends are planning on going on a road trip from our hometown (Orlando, Fl.) to California. We plan on heading up through Florida into Georgia and visiting Atlanta (our favorite city, as we all have family there). From Georgia we'll continue through Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and then through California. On the way back, we plan on visiting Nevada (Las Vegas!). My question is: What should we see? I'm sure there are very interesting things to visit within all the states, but what are they? So far all we have is: Florida: nothing. Georgia: Atlanta... Alabama: the Civil Rights museums... Mississippi: nothing. Louisiana: New Orleans... Texas: the River Walk in San Antonio and the Alamo... New Mexico: nothing... Arizona: Grand Canyon and the Petrified Forest... California: Hollywood... Nevada: Las Vegas... Suggestions for any of those states would be greatly appreciated ;)
How can I write this paragraph with out using "is" ? Broward County is located in the south-east corner of Florida. The County is divided into two parts; a highly populated metropolitan area consisting of 31 municipalities including three large cities: Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines and Hollywood and a conservation area known as the Everglades. One of Broward County’s trends that affect the community and the people that live in Broward is population growth.
How to convince my parents to move to Florida? I currently live in the most poorest and dangerous part of CA. I hate the city I live in right now... I seriously do. I always wanted to live in Florida, the weather seems so nice and peaceful and then you have the rain which helps me sleep at night. I have 2 brothers and one sister, one mom and dad, total of six people. Problem is, my parents are divorced so that leaves complications with my dad, and my mom has a BF which also has its own problems since he has a job in CA..... Also, my mom doesn't know if she can work over there. And I live about 30-40 minutes away from LA, I am hoping to get an acting career but in Florida they don't something similar to Hollywood. Thanks for all of your answers! I figured I stay in CA until I work up the money myself for a ticket regardless of the flaws of Florida. And I can help my mom pay for tickets, my mom paid for tickets some time ago for just the 5 of us, brothers and sister.
Britons, why not triple your quality of life and move to the States? The pound is about three US dollars. Your 35,000 pounds per year is $105,000 here. For this amount you all can live like Hollywood stars. Most Americans do not take advantage of all of the 50 States and their uniqueness. They stay housed up in large cement cities and congested States like Florida. For those of you who have large savings or get pensions from the government, live your remaining years in bliss. The cost of living is very inexpensive in the majority of cities. Whatever you want in a home and land, you can have. Whatever climate you want, you can have. With a larger savings, you can be at ease financially speaking. Do not believe the lies and hype about having to pay for hospital care, not totally true. As a taxpayer, you will have many options. Also, there are millions of private clinics costing little to nothing. For Britons, it's a win win situation. Americans love folk from the UK. Every ten years, over a million Germans move here. We walk Britons!
What is France's Hollywood? I'm going to France for three weeks for a High School foreign exchange program. I wanted to know this because I think it would be cool to see what their "Hollywood" looks like. We have two "Family" days where the exchange student gets to pick where they want to go... Most kids say "Euro Disney" but I can go to disney world here.. it's stupid, a waste of time and money when I have been to the Florida and California one three times. So if you know the name of the city or any other cool things to do while I'm over there for "Family" days that would be greatly thanked.
Do you live in the city or rural/country? Have you lived in both? what do you prefer? I grew up in a suburb of Columbus Ohio and the town only had 8,000 people. It was really all I knew. The city was something I saw on T.V. and went to two or three times a year. At 18 I moved to Hollywood California. Man was it crazy. I learned about life from the street people because I worked at an all night donut shop. I soon realized how similar people are, but to this day I will never see myself as similar to anyone. I suppose I'm probably a mix of plain and simple and completely out of my mind. Maybe because I have lived in just about every environment available to someone in the lower 48 United States. Life in the city might be tougher in many respects, but I think I like it more. When I retire though I might end up where I own some land in Southern Ohio- population 2,500...in the city 8 miles away. Should I flee the city in 20 years( if I'm lucky to still be here in 20 years) and go this land off the beaten path. Or should I stay here in Columbus where I moved back to 20 years ago? Hollywood almost feels like my home though, but I only lived there from age 18 until I was 22. I had to come back to Ohio when my dad died suddenly when I was 22. I like Southern Florida as a place to visit, but I didn't like living there for too long ( 10 months) because of the eternal summer... as was true for Hollywood Ca too.

Should I move to Florida? My fiance and I live together in Hollywood, California. We are 21 years-old. It's great because we are trying to build careers in the entertainment industry. Only problem is, for me I cannot be creative here. The high-stress superficial city environment is starting to clutter my mind. I've been here for almost 3 years and feel that I'm not productive mainly due to just not being able to flourish in this environment. I love tropical weather and open waters/ beaches/ beautiful surroundings. I have never been to Florida but imagine I would be happier there. I am a singing teacher so I would have to build my clientele wherever I move to, also I love writing songs and need to be inspired. My fiance is in school now so he will either look for job placement (record label, recording studio, television network station etc.) or continue his schooling. So I'm thinking Miami would be a good location because the entertainment industry is prominent but I just don't want to be in the heart of a major city again--maybe a more laid back surrounding area? Also I would DEFINITELY like to move somewhere where the cost of living DECREASES from here in LA, California. I want to rent cheap so I can save more money and eventually look into us buying when we find a place we can see ourselves staying. From my understanding, South Beach is lovely but pricey. I would also look into Ft. Lauder dale, Boca Raton, IDK even Orlando is a possibility but I know it's not by the beach, which is a bummer. Any other suggestions? Any feedback? Thanks in advance for helping me figure out where to visit, and where to consider moving to :)

Are the United States like we Europeans watch them on Hollywood movies? New York is the city of business stories, romances and crimes San Francisco and Los Angeles are the places of action. California, in general, is the home of entertainment, beaches and parties. Florida = year-round holiday. Texas, Nevada, Arizona, desert, scorching heat, escapes and chases, gamble, military intelligence. West Virginia = highlanders-horror movies XD Central States = corn, tornadoes and natural disasters Southern States = "get off my property!", strange people, blues, country music. etc. Now I can think of no other! Midwest? hum.. football, baseball and happy families, of course. Northwest: N/A, on movies, but I would say vast woods, grizzly bear, mountains, log cabins, native Americans and beautiful places :D

Why Do You Think It's NYC? It's really annoying to go on vacation and have people ask me where I live because the conversation usually goes like this: Person: So where do you live? Me: New York. Person: Oh! So how's the city? And it's just really annoying because I always have to say that I DON'T live in the city, I live in a suburban town an hour and a half away from the city. Saying all of New York is a city is like saying all of Florida is Disney World or all of California is Hollywood. So why is it that people from other states think that New York State is just New York City?
Question for Britons: What do you think of these 25 reasons why it is better to live in the US then the UK? - We have right wing Christians who still believe in Jesus. Only 39% of Americans believe in evolution as opposed to your evil backward 93% of ya'll. A much higher 45% of our citizens know abortion is immoral and believe it shouldn't be legal. - Our state of Arizona SB 1070 to prevent illegal immigrants from living there which will be begin to spread. Your country could never step over the hurdles of political correctness in this area. - We don't accept homosexuality as much because many of us know it is a choice and is purely disgusting. And if we were more PROMOTING of homosexuality, we wouldn't hypocritically take in loads of homophobic Muslims. - Ya'll had diasporas to our country from all of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, even after we declared our independence. We've never had an American diaspora or significantly populated organized American immigrant communities in other countries because of our great opportunities here and our pride to not quit on our country. - The Human Development Index claims we are # 13 in the world. Meanwhile, you're # 21. - We don't force people to pay for a medical service they won't use. - We don't have the long list of ''bloody'' religious persecution like yours. - We aren't mesmerized by a bunch of rocks at Stonehedge. - We don't symbolically bow to a Queen disrespecting ourselves saying a human being can or should be honored as *divine*. Ironic how you're the irreligious Atheists still giving them that satisfaction though. - We have less socialism ingrained into our society which contributes to why it is more affordable. - We have the death penalty for people who commit unforgiveable crimes (including terrorism). - We are more competent and ballsy at handling and acquiring information from terrorists. We will use all means including water boarding at Guantanamo Bay, if necessary. - We don't let the rest of the world punk us around telling us we can't use X amount of energy. We love our big cars and won't buy inferior products from primitive/third world countries just to be ''politically correct.'' - Unlike you, we will tell other poorer countries (especially in Latin America and the Mid East) what political leaders they can and can't have to support our economic interests. - We take the responsibility for your bitter signing of the Balfour Declaration by being the only true supporter of Israel and Zionism. - We have freedom of speech and don't ban political leaders from neighboring union sharing countries (*cough* Geert Wilders *cough*) despite many of your own citizens agreeing with his principals of protecting western culture. - We have a better and more popular entertainment industry (Hollywood, music, ect). - Most of our immigrants are Mexicans and other Latin American westerners who assimilate into our culture more easily then your unappreciative Muslims who'll never assimilate - We know our government can and would use our military to protect us and lead the charge unlike you followers. We also have the best military technology in the world. - We are proud of who we are and don't pretend to be anyone else. We have a large enough country that looking beyond our borders is an option rather then a necessity. - We are more blessed with our environmental diversity from the tundra of Alaska, to our desert in Nevada, to tropical paradies of Hawaii and Florida. - Unlike London, our largest city and my native New York City is the true economic and cultural capital of the world. - Many of our other cities have more multicultural identities like Miami with it's Latin flavor. - We have a better and more diverse cuisine. - Americans created most modern computers, invented the car and the airplane. We also own most of the most popular sites (including Yahoo which we're using). TG - I don't know why people get so personal about reminding us ''Americans'' are the name of a continent. We don't deny that. What would world you like to call us then? How would you pluralize citizens of the United States? Give it a try. And to our standards, there are three continents in the Americas. I know Wales is it's own country. Why would the Welsh language exist and be spoken by many people if it were apart of England? What you may be misinterpreting is that they are telling you that the UK is your country. And that each of the 4 ''countries'' are like our versions of states. Who cares if we can't properly pronounce the name of your town? Like you can pronounce the names of all our towns? Nate - I don't see how my 25 points were racist. Politically incorrect? Probably. Who cares about that though? I'm blunt and that's something we Americans are. We speak the truth and ya'll just don't like it. Too bad. I love how you call me the ''perfect example of a typical American'' after calling me an arrogant racist. So you're generalizing all Americans to be arrogant racists just because you don't like me? Those Canadians manners are sure something else, huh? You don't want to move away from Canada to get away from us. You want to get away from your brutally cold weather. I'm surprised you're not going to our sunbelt like many of your countrymen. Now Nate. Don't you have a bunch of Quebecois to speak English to and never respond in French to? Yup. Those Canadian manners. I even got to give Britons credit for not making denying the Holocaust illegal. What kind of idiots arrest people on the grounds of being stupid alone? And then give them a chance to be martyrs? Why did Canada even make it illegal anyway? It's not nearly as personal for you as it is Europeans. Is it because you're the yes men? (cough *Jim Carrey* cough) That's how gay marriage got acknowledged in your country? Your anti-Americanism is so typical of a Canadian. You're only third to the anti-Americanism within westerners to the British and French. You just don't like living in our shadow. Sounding and dressing exactly like us. You don't even have your own identity. At least not the Anglo Canadians. I forgot about # 26 and 27. - Our right to bear arms which is constitutionally protected. - Our designing of the Japanese constitution helping contribute to their wealth. Nate - And aboot how will this disease go away? Ed - Because the question directly says ''Question for Britons.'' Belle - Why do you say that? I feel you on the British irony part. They love to ''charmingly'' sabotage the name of others in the most sneaky ways. That is their trademark. Don't forget about # 28. - We have better teeth then you. Dudette - Don't you realize you're disrespectful yourself by even calling her a ''Queen?'' Whjat'd she do to earn that? Be born into a rich family? Why don't we just knight George W. Bush King for being wealthy then? You contradict your socialist values by honoring one for being over another. We all know the only reason why they exist is because they bring you in money from tourism. ''and a lot of racism , and stone henge is more than just a rock , it's the fact of how they manage to build it with out the materials we have now , theres plenty more but im not going through all of it.'' If you're going to claim I'm racist, why don't you cite specific things I said and explain yourself? How is stone hedge more then a rock? It's a bunch of ugly rocks in the middle of grass. That is what amazes you? ''one thing don't american cars have problems going round corners which is why you need to slow down?'' A big car will naturally have to slow down at turns. I'm sorry we don't drink the tiny cheap vulnerable crap you drive. ''religion just makes things worse anyway , oh and there is nothing wrong with being gay or bi / lesbian either .'' That's a matter of your personal perception. Maybe your culture accepts that more. The problem is you're pressing that view onto Americans and others and not respecting that not everyone accepts that notion of religion and homosexuality. ''I will agree on the death penital though that's all your getting from me'' Really. Now even the HDI? That was made by the world. Not us. And it's all relative to math and stats. I'm surprised though. The death penalty is usually the last thing a Brit ever agrees with. You usually criticize us for being ''barbaric'' yet ignore the harshness of the crimes committed. # 29 - Our women still have babies and we don't need to rely on immigrants to keep our population the same. Mark - Well, it's actually 29 now ;) No, I was never home schooled. That isn't healthy. I've been in public school and now in college. You'd ''take me to school?'' Try it then. Well? Carl Benz created a model that couldn't work until our technology made it feasible. Granted he did contribute. But we were the inventors. Plenty of decent cars have come out of Detroit. Many of the cars weren't designed to be impressive though. They were designed to work for our landscape. We do have many nice cars though. What exactly has the UK done to impress anyone in terms of cars? We have better cuisine because it's more diversified. We have much better Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Your cuisine is really boring and tasteless. No wonder why you envy the French ;) No one is going to dispute that the quality of our TV shows and movies. Yes, we have a much better entertainment industry. Even the most anti-American bitter Brits give in to that. Ya'll consider water boarding torture. We don't. Stop pressing your views on other people. I'd say the acts of those terrorists are well beyond water boarding. Water boarding is light for what they deal with. We should be maiming them until we get our information. That's why you must love Lyndee England's surname ;) ''Waterboading is torture, if they'll do it to others why wouldn't they do it to you, theres a line, its been crossed, someone will have to answer about that.'' And who exactly will we have to answer to? We militarily control this world. The only country who can potentially overtake us are the Chinese and I think they'd admire our methods of handling people who disgrace us. They'd add their own spice into the mix too. of speach, why does the wikileaks website have to be hosted in sweden?'' That is irrelevant to freedom of speech. Swedish companies are probably involved in the business. I wouldn't say a country that prohibits you from being stupid enough to deny the holocaust or most absurdly tell you what you can and can't say about homosexuality is a good example. Jack - Rather then loosely smearing our name in your typical British style, would you care to provide us some type of citation showing that inbreds are common in America? Aren't you the one taking massive amounts of Muslims who marry 1st cousins in their own countries? Not that you bigots would ever consider them British even if they were born there though. ''Every country has its good and bad points ,you knock our Queen which is the stabilising point of Democracy to control politicians ...remember watergate?'' Your ''Queen'' has nothing to do with how your government is run. The only power she has is the power Cameron or what ever PM wants to give her which is barely anything. Don't criticize Nixon, Bush or Obama either because you Brits seem to wind up hating all of your prime ministers. ''Our health service ,not perfect but yours let 2 million survivable babies die in the year 2008 because the mothers couldn`t afford health care .'' That's a lie. If you're below the poverty line, you can get medicaid which is free. It's not a great service but it'll keep babies healthy. Those who are in between the poverty line and working class and are employed should and have the money to get medical coverage through their job. Unemployed people can qualify for Medicaid. ''The screen your looking at is probably LCD'' I don't have LCD. I'm glad to know you'll use Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Youtube and Microsoft and Apple though. It's a much longer list buddy. You can't compete. Why'd you import our views on PC if you didn't want them? It's because we have a lot more control over you then the other way around. Just like how all of you get upset when you see your troops dying in Iraq and Afghanistan when most of you don't want them there in the first place. Yet you know you are our personal b*tch in military matters. ''One item you are totally in agreement with 80% of the Brit population is that the death penalty should be enforced.'' If you feel that much of the British population supports that, then why don't they enforce it? Why can't you vote in politicians that'll act in accordance to what you want? You have less excuse with a system that can knock in and out several parties quicker then us. This isn't the vibe I get from most Brits though. And I don't think the rest of the EU would look highly on you. They do you you're the American of Europe though ;) Your stomachs don't lie. ''As for stonehenge please don`t try to be so illiterate about it`s significance to the structure of the human race.'' Now I'm illiterate? You're real polite! I'm saying there are a lot more things to be *mesmerized* by then a bunch of rocks. ''So please stop trying to be so childish with your questions ,both countries have faults just recognise that fact.'' True. But the US is clearly better and the HDI doesn't lie. David - ''And how anyone could be proud of the fact that they use up far more of the world's energy per capita than any other country is beyond me.'' That's not what I'm proud nor ashamed of. I'm proud that we don't let the rest of the world boss us around with the Kyoto Protocol. We have our own standards and we do what we want. We won't sacrifice our economy to be a bunch of goodie two shoes like you Brits. ''Prepare for far more and far worse, it's caused by global warming which your last president was in total denial about.'' And I suppose the tsunami that killed 250,000 people in 2004 was caused by their environmental recklessness too. No one is denying the existence of global warming. We're arguing the effects of it. It's only a theory that it's man made. How do you know it all doesn't run in natural cycles? And even if it didn't, why should we care or something about it? ''There really is no need to help raise awareness for brain injured Americans, the world is well aware of your plight and indeed the cause of it'' So you think we're ''brain injured?'' I'm impressed by your vocabulary ;) Our plight? And what exactly is this? Explain. You say there is a lot that is wrong with our country? Who are we the colonial descendant of? Who's native language do we share? The US is only a byproduct of everything the UK gave us. So if you saw an American blowing up an abortion clinic or thinking they are Jesus Christ in Waco, Texas, you should only see a reflection of your own culture. ''I honestly have not got time to read your novel.'' JHow is it a novel? I'm neatly responding to everyone who's answered me. It isn't my fault you have a low attention span. You shouldn't have the time to answer my question either then. What'd you answer like 240 questions in 3 months? 80 per month? Almost 3 per day? I'd say you have the time buddy. ''The only thing I know about Arizona is a song called Ragtime cowboy Joe ho lived in Arizona, the slang word ragtime in this beloved country (England)where most of you emigrants came from'' Jack - I pity your low comprehension of our history. It's a shame you never got to take American history. Even most Englishmen know a bit more then you. They'd do what ever they can to deny that we are their descendants. In all actuality, there are over 50 million Americans who are of at least some German descent. Our Census reports about 35-40 million people to be of English, Scottish, Welsh and Scots-Irish (Northern Irish) ancestry. The number could be higher but probably is not higher then Germans. Also, about 35 million Americans are also of Mexican ancestry. Even if I was generous enough to assume you meant British by saying English, you'd still be ignorant. Just because you were the original colonizers doesn't mean you moved there. Just like there is arguably more Italian ancestry in Argentina today despite Spanish colonization. By the way, I'd hardly call England a ''beloved'' country. ''Are you proud of living in such a place where there is no compassion but then Arizona was part of the wild west hooligans cutthroats dance hall girls guns and dynamite is that something to be proud of'' I'm not from Arizona. Why would I care? Why don't you Google and Wikipedia that law I told you? It's sad that you need to reference history from over 100 years ago to apply to modern Arizonans. That'd be like me blaming ya'll for improperly colonizing and mistreating Africans after you know you were wrong for enslaving them. ''Is California part of the Wild West?'' It used to be. The ''Wild West'' doesn't exist anymore. But if there are any remnants of it, California isn't apart of it. Georgeb - You mean a greater UK. Joe Smith - I'd like to say you've been blessed with a great first name! You also unfortunately have the name of a former crappy Mets reliever though. Everything I said is true. http://www.gallup.com/poll/114544/darwin-birthday-believe-evolution.aspx That was dated February 2009. It says 39% of Americans believe in evolution. Gallup is a reliable source. There are seberal other sources indicating the same. Why is it important? Two reasons. One, it means people haven't quit on Christianity and organized religion like so many Brits and Europeans unfortunately have. Two, our Christians are not hypocritical, or at least much less hypocritical. We won't believe two things at the same time. There certainly are Americans with loose religious beliefs though who may taint the rest of our Christian image by calling themselves ''religious'' even if it's been years since they've been to church. Meanwhile, I get the vibe in the UK that they associate Atheist and Agnosticism with intelligence. They seem indifferent on spirtualism. And they view adherents to Abrahamic religions (especially religious ones and particularly Muslims) as backwards. I don't like that. Joe Smith - If you truly believe I am exaggerating or lying on specific points though, explain to myself. At least with the evolution/religion thing, it's my opinion. But it's an opinion the majority of Americans share. I'll fairly state whether or not my opinion is relevant to the overview for each point I've made. Since I like your first name and blessed citizenship so much, I'll briefly explain the facts and lack of exaggeration in all 25. 1) Arizona SB 1070 Law. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_SB_1070 Unless you've been living under a rock in the US, you know this is a law that aggressively went against illegal immigration with tough measures. Would this type of law ever be created in the UK to kick out illegal North African Muslims? No. None of the Britons on here denied that either. It'd require to move PC hurdling and would go against their prissy liberal image. - Fact. My opinion is irrelevant. 2) British immigrant diasporas to US. No US immigrant diasporas to anywhere in world. Where was a major American immigrant diaspora to the UK or anywhere else in the world then at any point in time? - Fact. 3) ''The Human Development Index claims we are # 13 in the world. Meanwhile, you're # 21.'' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index Obvious fact. 4) ''We don't have the long list of ''bloody'' religious persecution like yours.'' Although this isn't necessarily relevant to modern day, it is true. Fact. 5) ''We aren't mesmerized by a bunch of rocks at Stonehedge.'' Most Americans never even heard of Stonehedge so they couldn't be mesmerized by it. And if they did see it on national geographic, most would say ''What is so great about these rocks?'' Opinion mixed with fact. 6) We don't symbolically bow to a Queen. The hypocrisy on the British people who acknowledge her as a Queen and are Atheist is evident. Most Americans couldn't name you the first or last name of the Queen though so we're indifferent. Opinion on matter of importance. 7) Less socialism and more affordable. This is true. Socialism makes things more expensive. Hence explaining why cheap places in the UK are still somewhat expensive to US standards and it still would be even if we had the same currency. Opinion mixed with fact 8) Death penalty (especially for terrorists) This is legally true, widely known and no exaggeration. Even many Britons wish they didn't have such a timid government in that respect. Fact. 9) Acquiring information from terrorists via Guantanamo Bay This is a fact and was up until less then 2 years ago and the facility is yet to be closed down. Whether or not our methods of ''torture'' are ethical is a matter of opinion. But something most Americans proudly agree with! 10) Not being on Kyoto Protocol We're not. Most Americans wouldn't want to be either because it's hurt our already hurting economy. Fact. 11) The US helping and choosing put in place political parties/dictators in Latin America and the Mid East for their economic interests. Fact. 12) Support for Israel and taking responsibility for split indecisive bitter Brits for signing Balfour Declaration. Fact. 13) Better entertainment and music. Widely acknowledged opinion. 14) Not banning Wilders or other political leaders. Fact. 15) Most of our immigrants are westerners from Mexico/Latin American and assimilate unlike Muslims in the UK and Europe. Fact. 16) Knowing our government will use the military to protect us and lead the charge. Obvious fact. 17) Our high level of patriotism and not needing to travel because of how many resources we have in our highly populated country. Opinion on importance. 18) New York City being more of a world city then London. Most people do consider New York City the true current world capital. Widely acknowledge opinion. 19) More environmental diversity. Fact. 20) More multicultural identities in our city (ex. Miami) unlike in UK Fact. 21) Better and more diverse cuisine. Opinion on better and fact on diversity. 22) America creating more recent technological inventions. Fact. 23) Evolution (I covered) Opinion. 24) Homosexuality (but supported by the majority of Americans, especially in the South and Midwest who'll probably never vote in Gay marriage) Opinion 25) Forcing people not to pay for health care. Fact. Like 2/3 of things I wrote about are purely fact. The other 1/3 which are my opinions are based on facts.

japanese cities vs. american cities? Okay so the capital of U.S is Washington D.C, and Tokyo is the capital of Japan. What would be the California or Hollywood, New york, and Florida of Japan if you know what I mean. Like a popular celebrity city in japan, for example hollywood in america is where a lot of celebrities are.

Why don't more Canadians live on the ocean beaches? Canada is great as it is, but I notice one thing missing. Canada could have at least one city along the lines of "Monte Carlo on the French Riviera with 24-hour nightlife and the surf and sand. Or like South Beach, Miami, Florida or Fort Lauderdale (South Florida) where tropical beaches with latin salsa music and delicious cuisines all along an ocean strip with jacuzis and hotel lounges. You could put more of that in Canada in summer when beach weather permits. Or like Los Angeles sunset strip or Hollywood Boulevard. Don't Canadians like to vacation to these beach cities every so often? I don't want the Maritimes to become like that though because it has a unique flavour of its own, a more intimate traditional flavour. But depending on the mood, you may want the night-life techno DJ club cafe party-all-night type of beach town, and Canada doesn't seem to have that. Canada could make a city more like Miami Beach and use gas lamps to warm the air and make this beach paradise off the East Coast of Nunavut. Why not? And then have casino cruises to Hans Island. Why don't Canadians want to live on the beach sometimes and make castles in the sand and surf the waves of the ocean? I guess Canada could have a sister city to one of these: 1) Honolulu, Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Cancun, Rio De Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Monte Carlo, San Remo, Barcelona, Bangkok, Beirut, Tel Aviv And you could eat maple creams on the beach and mix it with rum and tequilla Edit: But Vancouver is not a Canadian city, it's the Westernmost part of China. But of all of China, my favourite Chinese city is Vancouver, Ex-British Columbia. This may be the first time in history that Chinese cities got to host back-to-back Olympics. Beijing, now Vancouver I actually do like the Canadian beaches for their uniqueness, and I was joking about Vancouver being China

What is the best place to live in Los Angeles? Me, my Husband, and 9 year old daughter will be relocating from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, California and we would love to hear some suggestions about the city. We have been doing some research and we found a couple of nice 3 bedroom apartments in Brentwood, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood and we would like to know which area you recommend the most. In addition, are the schools decent in these areas? We have our own online business at home so commuting from one place to another during the week won't be a problem, but we will definitely have our car since I hear you need a car to get to any place in LA since its very spread out and public transportation is poor. But other than that, how do you like LA? Thank you, Edith
Where do you live the beautiful people in U.S.? ? Normally, we see in Hollywood movies that leave many beautiful girls in the movies, blondes high and features beautiful girls, dark ... not bad at beaches sunbathing or strolling in the city or tourist zones such as promenades by the sea, or playing some sport outdoors ... for example that TV serie Film shows the number of 'Bay Watch', (with (David Hasselhoff) on the beaches of Los Angeles, California. Then one sees on the internet that is not all that pretty Jenter live in all those sites that shows film in Hollywood. And aunuqe tourist areas with a climate and good beaches agradeble is always a big attraction ... On the other hand, lives more Jenter in central and eastern U.S. coast, which in the West Coast as I have seen on a map of population. Statistically more likely to live where Jenter or more people, more likely to be able to find Jenter pretty. Can we find such beautiful places as Jenter Meriland, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago or Detroit Massachusetts, as in places such as sun and beach tourist California or Florida ? Where do you live the beautiful people in U.S.? Where it will be easier to see american' beautiful people? Is it concentrated in a few places of great weather beautiful beaches and sun, or rather, are scattered throughout the United States?
Does this sound like a good orlando plan? After lots of consideration, me and my partner have decided we want to miss some of the parks off our holiday, so we can venture out and see other things in florida. i really want to see the harry potter world and the castle and he really wants to do the penguin encounter at seaworld (hes crazy about them) and we both want to go discovery cove. So we have decided to definitely visit Islands of adventure, typhoon lagoon, Magic kingdom, seaworld.. busch gardens, in one week... universal studio's, blizzard beach, discovery cove.. & then as we're going to visit magic kingdom in the first week and view the fireworks, we would like to spend a 9th day at hollywood studio's in the morning/afternoon.. then head to epcot about 4 oclock to take a quick look, have a nice meal and see the fireworks, is it possible to do these 2 parks in one day? we picked hollywood studios as weve heard you can generally get round it in half a day... Are we missing out by choosing not to go to aquatica? we thought the disney ones would be better, but do you guys disagree? .... & we decided to miss animal kingdom as we feel busch gardens is just a batter version of it? any ideas what we can do with our 5 remaining days? we're gonna head shopping, we're hoping to take a helicopter flight, visit wonderworks in the evening and eat out alot ... is down town disney or city walk worth a visit?
What do you think happened here? The mother and brother of Oscar-winning actress and chart-topping R&B singer Jennifer Hudson have been found shot dead at the family's Chicago home, and police are looking for her seven-year-old nephew who is missing . Hudson's personal publicist Lisa Kasteler confirmed the victims were Hudson's mother, Darnell Donnerson, 57, and her brother, Jason Hudson, 29. The deaths appeared to be the result of a domestic incident, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said. Police were on Friday night talking to "a number of people in custody", said Bond, who declined to elaborate. Neighbours reported hearing gunshots at Donnerson's home in the gritty Englewood neighbourhood on the city's South Side between 8 or 9am (local time), but no one raised the alarm until Hudson's sister Julia returned home from work and made the gruesome discovery around 3pm. Authorities immediately issued an all points bulletin for a missing seven-year-old boy, Julian King. Police said the missing youngster might have been abducted from the home and could be in the company of William Balfour, a suspect in the double homicide, who should be considered armed and dangerous. The bulletin said Balfour, 27, could be driving a white Chevrolet Suburban truck. The truck belonged to Jason Hudson, the slain brother of the singer. Neighbours and news reports identified the boy as the son of Julia Hudson, and Balfour as her estranged husband and the stepfather of King. Balfour is currently on parole after serving six-and-a-half years for attempted murder, and had listed Hudson's mother's address as his own within the past year, the celebrity website TMZ said. The ex-con was taken into custody by police late Friday , but the missing boy was still unaccounted for. Balfour was not cooperating with investigators and was not disclosing the whereabouts of the seven-year-old boy, FOX News reported. Jennifer Hudson was reported to be flying home to Chicago from Tampa, Florida. The 27-year-old singer shot to nationwide fame in 2004 on American Idol , the wildly popular television talent show, and in 2007 she earned an Oscar for supporting actress for her turn in Dreamgirls, alongside Beyonce and Jamie Foxx . Her self-titled debut album came out September 30 and she is currently riding high in the charts with a number one single on the Billboard R&B charts, Spotlight. She was in this year's blockbuster Sex and the City movie and in recent weeks had been promoting her latest film, The Secret Life of Bees . In interviews, Hudson credited her mother with helping her launch her career by pushing her to audition for American Idol , and said her siblings kept her rooted and down to earth. "My faith in God and my family, they're very realistic and very normal, they're not into the whole limelight kind of thing, so when I go home to Chicago that's just another place that's home," she said. "I stand in line with everybody else, or, when I go home to my mum I'm just Jennifer, (so she says), 'You get up and you take care of your own stuff.' And I love that; I don't like when people tell you everything you want to hear, I want to hear the truth, you know what I mean." Hudson recently announced her engagement to David Otunga, best known for his stint on the reality TV show I Love New York. She had been scheduled to appear on Monday in Los Angeles to collect an ensemble cast honour at the Hollywood Awards for The Secret Life of Bees with co-stars including Alicia Keys , Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning .
Do you think stereotypes mask opportunity sometimes? The only example I can think of is when someone asks you something like: would you rather live in Paris or Wyoming. California or Georgia. Things like that. We stereotype places like Paris, Cali, Florida and even Italy! We forget to think about which place we would be most happy in. Living in Hollywood would give you something to brag about but what about the crime or the busy city life? So back to the question. So you think stereotypes can mask opportunity? Do you have any examples? Ooh! Ivy Leagues are another example. Stereotyping people does get people off your case. That reminds me of the mother Teresa poem Anyway. We can be looking at someone rich, famous, a plastic surgeon living in a mansion and that same person went to an Ivy league. People would surely admire him/her but "it was never between you and them anyway."
HELP!!! Translate to Spanish, please? (Conditional Tense and Future tense) PLEASE DON'T USE ONLINE TRANSLATIONS! My friend coming to California is my friend Morgan and she is from Orlando, Florida. Since she has never been to California I would take her to the main attraction places in California. She has told me that she has rarely been to the beach, so that would be a good place to start her day off in California. She also then told me that she has relatives in California and we could also go there for her relatives as well. For the next couple of days of her stay, I would bring her to Huntington Beach, just so she would get the feeling of being in a beach after a long time of not being able to be in a beach because to where she lives in, her city is basically full of trees and lakes. Another place I would bring her to would be Big Bear Mountain or Mammoth Mountain so she would get that cold and snowy weather unlike to where she lives in, mostly hurricanes and rains every now and then; not much snow out there. The next place I would take would be in Hollywood, the main attraction of Los Angeles. From there on we would go to anywhere she would want to go to. Since we’ll be going to a lot of places, we could bring some of my friends along with us and go all together and have fun. I would introduce her to friends and maybe she would like them. We would share good laughs and mainly have fun while she stays in California. I would just want her to leave happy and proud to the fact that she has been to California by herself. In closing, she is very excited to come and visit me and my family. We’ve talked and planned out trips together, so she can’t wait and neither can I. I’m ready to share some great laughs along with her since it has been so long. And lastly, I would like every single minute of it when she comes.
My English paper. Does it sound ok? Spinning in the tea cups at Disney World, I couldn’t focus on just one thing so I looked at Katie sitting across from me. It was autumn 2004, and I was in fourth grade. My trip to Disney World was the most memorable experience of my life. We’ve been wanting to go there for a while and finally bought out tickets and got a hotel room. When we began driving I had no idea what was in store for me, who knew Ohio was so big?! We had to take two cars to fit all of us. I was me, my sister Savanna, my cousin Kaitlynne, Nana, Papa, Mom and my aunt and uncle. Two days in the car with your cousin and sister would sound miserable, bit it really wasn’t. We had fun on the was there. We stopped at Savannah, Georgia to take a picture because Savanna thought it was cool that there was a city that was the same name as hers. In South Carolina we went to the beach and collected seashells. There were houses down there that reminded me of Dr. Seuss’ drawings. They were abnormally shaped and seemed like cookie jars rather than houses. Just when we crossed the Florida border Katie, Savanna and I asked my mom almost every minute “are we there yet?!” At last we were! I saw the sign that said, “Walt Disney World, Where Dreams Come True” accompanied by Mickey Mouse and a bunch of palm trees! I couldn’t have been any more excited! We went to the front desks and checked in, and then we made our way to the Fantasia hotel. Our room was right by the huge statue of a ballerina and a toy soldier. We got right to the Magic Kingdom to see Cinderella’s castle and ride some rides. I saw Walt Disney’s statue of him and Mickey Mouse called “Partners” right when we walked it. Just seeing it was unforgettable. There, I met Alice, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb from my all time favorite movie, Alice in Wonderland. Tweedle-Dee took out my hair and tied it up in a side pony, I was just laughing the whole time and my mom was taking pictures. Katie was talking to Alice, and Savanna was getting her picture with Tweedle-Dumb. That experience was one I’ll never forget. We took pictures with all of the Disney characters; I got their autographs and everything. We went to Epcot, which was really cool. There, we went to italy and Russia and all kinds of places in the World Showcase. The ride inside the Epcot ball was fun. Katie, Papa, mom and I went on the ride called “Mission Space” where you have to land your spaceship on Mars. It felt so real! It sucked me to the seat like a vacuum as we left Earth. We could move our heads or talk. Katie was the pilot and I was the communications manager, everyone had their own jobs on the spaceship. We got there in one piece and came back to Earth with a good report. When the ride was over my mom had to explain to Katie that we didn’t really go to Mars and we we’re just spinning extremely fast. Ever since then I go on every spinning ride when I go to amusement parks. At the Animal Kingdom we took a safari and saw all of the African animals in the wild. There were giraffes, zebras, hippos and even lions. I was afraid because there wasn’t anything keeping the animals from us, it was just open land. At Hollywood Studios we got to see Indiana Jones Live Stunt Spectacular. They were blowing up cars and running around the stage. I could feel the hot fire in my face, even in the audience. There were so many other rides I went on at Disney World, but I just can’t remember them all. This trip taught me to never let go of your childhood because you only have it once. Also, to live every second of your life with happiness. That’s why I cherish the memories I have from Disney World and it is my most memorable experience. That's the end. I got a B on it, so if anyone has any suggestions on hoe to revise it, that'd be cool (^-^) THANK YOU
Obama-Farrakhan Ties Are Closer than obama says? Why are we finding all this out way to late? This is very disturbing. What do you think? A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan tells Newsmax that Barack Obama’s ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had “an open line between them” to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries. “Remember that for years, if you were a politician in Chicago, you had to have some type of relationship with Louis Farrakhan. You had to. If you didn’t, you would be ostracized out of black Chicago,” said Dr. Vibert White Jr., who spent most of his adult life as a member and ultimately top officer of the Nation of Islam. White broke with the group in 1995 and is now a professor of African-American history at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. White said Obama was “part of the Chicago scene” where Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. and radicals would go to each other’s events and support each other’s causes. “Even though Chicago is the third-largest city in the country, within the black community, the political and militant nationalist community is very small. So it wouldn’t be uncommon for [Obama and Farrakhan] to show up at events together, or at least be there and communicate with each other,” White told Newsmax. The Anti-Defamation League has denounced Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam as a “hate group.” Farrakhan has called Jews “bloodsuckers,” “satanic” and accused them of running the slave trade. He has labeled gays as “degenerates.” In a 2006 speech, the ADL again condemned Farrakhan when he said: “These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength. … It's the wicked Jews the false Jews that are promoting lesbianism, homosexuality. It's wicked Jews, false Jews that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!" Obama was careful to “denounce” Farrakhan’s comments – but not the man -- during the Democratic primary season earlier this year, but only after Hillary Clinton called him out for benefiting from Farrakhan’s support. Farrakhan endorsed Obama in a videotaped speech to his followers at Mosque Miryam in Chicago in February. “You are the instruments that God is gonna use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth,” Farrakhan said. He told the crowd that Obama was the new “messiah.” See Video: Farrakhan Endorses Obama, Calls Him Messiah. Once the news media and the Clinton campaign got hold of those comments from Farrakhan, demands mounted from all sides that Obama “renounce” Farrakhan. But as he has done repeatedly throughout this campaign, Obama was careful to parse his words. “You know, I have been very clear in my denunciation of Minister Farrakhan's anti-Semitic comments,” he said during one appearance on “Meet the Press.” “I think that they are unacceptable and reprehensible.” Obama hastened to point out that Farrakhan had been praising him as “an African-American who seems to be bringing the country together. I obviously can't censor him, but it is not support that I sought. And we’re not doing anything, I assure you, formally or informally with Minister Farrakhan.” But Obama, once again, was less than candid. In 1995, according to a profile of Obama that appeared in the Chicago Reader newspaper, Obama “took time off from attending campaign coffees to attend October’s Million Man March in Washington, D.C.” At the time, Obama was running for the Illinois Senate from Chicago’s South Side, a seat he won after getting surrogates to challenge the signatures on nominating petitions for his chief rival, the incumbent Alice Palmer. The march, which fell far short of attracting the million men it advertised, was organized by Farrakhan and by Obama’s then-pastor, the anti-white black nationalist Wright. Obama spoke at length with the Chicago Reader upon his return from the Million Man March. “What I saw was a powerful demonstration of an impulse and need for African-American men to come together to recognize each other and affirm our rightful place in the society," he said. “These are mean, cruel times, exemplified by a ‘lock ’em up, take no prisoners’ mentality that dominates the Republican-led Congress,” Obama said. “Historically, African-Americans have turned inward and towards black nationalism whenever they have a sense, as we do now, that the mainstream has rebuffed us, and that white Americans couldn't care less about the profound problems African-Americans are facing." “Black nationalism” is a current of thought and political action in the African-American community that has been championed by the likes of Farrakhan, Wright, Malcolm X, the Black Panthers and Khalid al-Mansour. Obama discussed his attraction to black nationalism at length in
Manual or Tiptronic in L.A? So I'm looking into getting a car... Kind of going for the 2011 Volkswagen Golf 2dr 2.5 Litter Engine, but idk if I should get manual or Tiptronic. I've never driven a manual, but I've always wanted to learn. I've driven my friend's 2007 Mercedes C230 which comes with tiptronic... When on Auto is fine, but on Tiptronic is kind of slow during the shifts... Also what about L.A traffic and hills? I'm from South Florida, I've driven all over the place and I don't think traffic is bad at all unless there's like a random thunder storm or a really bad accident on the highway... I'm going to be attending UCLA soon, so I'm moving to L.A. I will probably be living somewhere on West Hollywood, which is a relatively close drive to campus... Then the occasional weekend getaway (Beach, near by cities, etc) I enjoy driving, I find any excuse to get behind the wheel... Let me know any thoughts or opinions. Thanks

Where, in the United States, should we go? We are driving from Anchorage, Alaska(via the Alaska state ferry system from Anchorage to Bellingham Washington) to Polk City, Florida, on October 1st, and we can take our time. We already know we will stop by the Redwood forest, Hollywood, the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert, Las Vegas, Yellowstone, or Yosemite, but from there we are not sure where else to go.
Is there hope, or is this complicated relationship not worth waiting to see if it clears up? (21 please) Complicated is an understatement, unfortunately I can’t think of a concise way to highlight the order of events. We’ve been seeing each other for almost 10 months now. I met her in September '07 and she had a bf. I talked to her a couple times but kept my distance as a sign of respect because I would appreciate the same respect from a guy talking to the girl I was dating. October rolls around, I receive a facebook message over the weekend saying she wants to go on a date. This caught me off guard because I thought she was taken. I accept, we meet up, I find out she got dumped, I immediately think I'm the rebound so I remain cautious. They had dated 5 years, and lived together the past 1.5 years, marriage was in their near future, etc. He is one of the mentally and physically manipulative/abusive types, although very charismatic - he has dumped her numerous times in the past and she crawls back every time except not this time. She sticks with me, she likes me even though I'm a 180 spin off her ex. He's the bad boy type, tattoos, piercings, out bursting, manipulative, swears all the time, rude to everyone around him, etc. Her and I hit it off and really connected from date #1. There was pure electricity. She asked me to see her the next day, and then the following day. On day 4 we were back at college and she invited me out to drink with her and her room mates. Intoxication ensued, one thing led to another, we're on her bed. She wanted to have sex, I said no at first because I am used to only having sex with girls that I've dated. However because the connection we shared was so amazing, she didn’t have to twist my arm much because I knew I could see myself with her. We slept together. A month passes; we've spent nearly every day together since. Intimacy remained regularity while we established a solid foundation quizzing each other, learning about past experiences, likes/dislikes, etc. *Mind you, I'm well aware how backwards this occurred. In all of my past relationships I've dated at least 4-6 months before being comfortable enough to have sex. I start to notice certain personality quirks but toss them aside: -She's naturally rude, and always has a snippy/bratty tone of voice -Acts childish when she doesn't get what she wants. -Only-child, who conveniently has daddy's credit card at her disposal (synergistic w/ the above traits I observed) -Explosively defensive toward any comment that pertains to anything serious between the two of us as a relationship topic ever arises. -Diverts any direct comments I bring up for discussion almost instantly with comments like, “are you a girl?”, “are we really getting into this now?”, “it’s always something with you, isn’t it?”, “oh, really? And so is there anything else you’d care to tell me is wrong with me?”… the list goes on. -Manipulatively answers any serious question that I ask with another question that redirects the aim back at me about a slanted perspective on the original topic. Long-story short, she appeared impossible from the beginning because I am a believer of communication and prefer to tackle an issue as soon as it comes up. I also believe that no two people in a relationship should go to bed angry. She is the opposite, she holds it in, prefers not to talk about something and figure it out on her own. It almost appeared as a gender role flip-flop. I remained patient. I soon found out that she is far from over her ex-bf, in fact she’s still madly in love with him. He texts her on a daily basis with extremely vulgar, derogatory and hurtful messages, the most awful I’ve seen from a person. She blames herself for him dumping her. She also feels that she is not good enough for him because he left her, so she constantly wonders what’s wrong with her to make him do such a thing and hurt her in such a way. This knowledge made a bit more sense as to why she was so deflective toward any serious situation that had come up between her and I. After about 1.5 months, I back off. Within only 2 days, she texts me and accuses me of not caring. I arrange to spend time with her, we go out a few times. She complains that I’m not affectionate with her in public (kissing, etc.). Keep in mind, I’m crazy for this girl so I’ve been holding back because of the knowledge of her keeping her exbf free room and board in her heart still. I open up a bit more and her and I get more serious. Weeks would pass and we’d get so much closer as each day went on. Then another curve ball: She began getting jealous of any girl friend that I had from before I knew her. I acknowledged it, and did my best to respect how it made her feel and remained in contact with my girl friends but made sure I never flirted with them. We’ve met each other’s parents, spent nearly every day and every holiday together. We exchanged gifts for Christmas; she bought me an expensive watch. Call me crazy, but to me all of these are signs that she likes me and is at least interested in being more than a friend. I find out soon after, she had been talking to this new guy from another town where her room mate grew up that they visit every other weekend and go downtown to the bar scene. For the sake of consistency and fairness in the relationship I ask her what’s going on with him and if I should be concerned with her friendship with him becoming more. She snaps back defensively and makes it clear that she and I are not dating, makes it known that I have no right to question her and she definitely doesn’t have to answer to me about who she spends her time with. (Keep in mind, that while she’s telling me this, her room mate is behind her giving me a worried look that speaks to me as ‘be careful’). Turns out she had been sleeping with him. I confronted her about it numerous times and she had lied to me repeatedly. Finally she admits to having slept with him. There was never any time between intimacy with me and the new guy. Some times I’d find out she had just slept with him the night before she’d slept with me or vice versa. There seemed to be a few weeks of peace, and then my birthday approached in February. She prepared and crafted a memorable collage of little moments between us in chronological order and wrote me a really deep sentimental love note to go with it. It was the most amazing gift I had ever gotten from any one. She gave it to me the night before my birthday at midnight (on a Thursday) because she was going with her room mate again to her home town that Friday (on my actual birthday, which I had hoped she’d spend with me). I then find out she saw the new guy again. I began to feel like I was in over my head. I had never been so disrespected in my life, ever. I’ve always been honest and good to those around me so this came as a huge surprise and shock to me, not to mention it really hit deep, emotionally. Repressed resentment began to manifest as I tried hard to shrug this off after my attempts to defend myself and my feelings. One night in February after she returned we were out at the bars and I was drunk and she was being snippy with me for no good reason as expected but this time the unexpected happened. I verbally exploded at her. As we were both shocked, I was by far more surprised. She combatively retaliates and took the time to accuse me of being an ‘asshole’ just like her exbf and that I’m not the nice guy she thought I was. Feeling vulnerable, I apologized for my actions because I felt awful. I had never yelled at a girl before until I met her. She forgave me within a day, much like she would with her exbf except her used to beat her and leave bruises, while reminding me that I’m on thin ice and I should be lucky she’s even talking to me anymore. A few days pass and the intimacy and closeness returned. It appeared we were back to normal. This cycle repeated 3-4 more times from February to May (except she had broken it off w/ the new guy after March and “chose” to be with me. She declared we are finally dating, yet it seemed odd because I never even officially asked her to be my girlfriend) Our time of “dating” lasted about 3 weeks. Her exbf pulls the “I’m going into the military in July unless you give me a reason to stay” card. She drops off the grid for nearly 4 weekends while commuting to class during the week and stayed back with him at his apartment in the city, ignoring both mine and her room mate’s phone calls/text messages. I get a phone call from her exbf on the 4th weekend. Apparently she had been lying to him about me and said we never had done anything serious. He was coming to me for some answers. I told him some of the story. He kicks her out, finalizes the army papers and settles for a date to ship out. She came back to me, but with resentment and a subliminal finger pointed in blame for ruining her chance at true love (she never spoke these words, but she would repeatedly mention how her only chance at true love was lost, not implicating it being my fault at all). End of May we walked in the college graduation ceremony together and moved home for the summer (we live 5 minutes apart). Things have been amazing now that her exbf has been letting go of her, however I’m still keeping an eye out. She and I planned a trip the beginning of July with her best friend and fiancé to Key West, Florida then Hollywood Beach, Florida. We finally understand each other on a whole new level. We’ve learned to cope with our differences. I’ve been seeing a counselor about my few anger outbursts and am learning how to cope with not being able to communicate issues or feelings with her when they come up. Two months had gone by where we had been drinking and there had been no issues. July 2nd was her exbf’s departure date for boot camp. He had been recently dating her ex-best friend and he tells her this the day of his departure. She is a wreck and miserable the entire day for everyone to see. Her friends gave her space and I did as well. We were on vacation together so I tried to keep spirits up and would attempt to talk to her from time to time, only to get responded to with irritable rude remarks. She didn’t want to be around me at night when we planned to go out and have a good time. I went for a walk on the beach by myself and tried texting her a few times to see how she was doing and if she wanted to join me. No response. I went back up to the hotel room and she was on the floor talking to him on the phone. She jumps to her feet and storms past me with unnecessary anger towards me. I blocked her way to the door and calmly asked her to get off the phone w/ him and talk to me. She hung up the phone and dramatically threatened to dial 911 unless I let her leave the room. I refused only to try and get her to realize how emotionally-escalated and unrealistic she was being. She begins to dial. I grab her phone and tell her to please give me a chance, try to talk. She was going ballistic. She started grabbing at me, kicking, elbowing me to give the phone back, so I did – shocked. She charges me to get to the door and knocked me aside, I reacted and grabbed her waist and pulled her back but she’s only 90 pounds and she flew to the floor and hit her head. She started yelling “Help” and “Rape” and told me she “Hates the sight of me” and that she “never wants to see me again” while pounding on the walls. I immediately moved aside, kept my arms to my side and slid down the wall and sat on the ground in shock trying to process what just happened for no reason. I didn’t even hesitate, I arranged to sleep on the floor since we had room with 1 king bed. She came back to the room 3 hours later and slept. We had 3 more days left on the trip. I offered to find a flight back home, she said no and to stay. She ignored me for 24 hours but spent the whole day w/ me on the beach. The following day we were talking fine and like nothing had happened, but I was in a daze the entire time because I hadn’t forgiven myself. I was expecting her to never talk to me again once we arrived back home, but that never happened. We’ve spent every day together since. She invited me to move into her 2 bedroom apartment with her in August. She’s been asking for me to get her a promise ring, one that she picked out from Tiffany’s. If you’re thinking “Wow…” at this point then we’re all on the same page as I am currently today. We’ve been doing well again, but every now and then when I tell her how much she means to me and how I wish she’d let go of her exbf and make room in her heart for someone new, she gets angry and says she’s not ready to let go and is definitely not ready to let me take his place. Just last night she angrily replied “I feel pressured and I don’t like it. And forget the ring I don’t want it. Good night, call me tomorrow” All of her friends and mine as well have commented to me numerous times throughout the last 10 months wondering why I put up with her crap. I didn’t plan on falling in love with her, and I don’t know why I don’t stick up for myself and leave her. I’ve experienced some of the best moments of my life with her, yet at the same time I’ve experienced the worst yet. The good heavily outweighs the bad, at least from my point of view. I only saw a counselor about my anger issues with the repressed emotions that built over time with her. I feel now that there may be a whole different perspective and approach for the counselor to interpret. I’m noticing the length of this message now and wonder if I should even post it, but I think I will anyway. To those of you who have read this far, I truly appreciate your interest and time. Any toughts/suggestions/criticism/helpful hints?
