How to bike from New York to Florida? I am looking to bike from Syracuse, New York to West Palm Beach, Florida. However I can't find any information on the internet about how to get from point A to point B on biking roads, or really information on an east coast bike trip at all. I'm really just looking for a place I could go to or a person I can speak with that can map out the trip for me (keeping me off of major highways obviously) Thanks everyone! If anyone has any other additional tips or tricks to biking the East coast give me a shout!

Do you think that the Oil is going to make it to Florida by August 1st? My family and I have been planning this awesome trip to Florida in the First week of August... We were planning on going to the Beaches of South Walton, which is on the plan-handle of the state.. Did you think that we are going to make it before the oil is? Here's a map view... http://www.south-walton-rentals.com/images/address.png
Driving directions from Sikeston, Missouri to Fort Walton Beach, Florida? I always use mapquest for my driving directions. I print a map off every year for vacation. This year when I try to print driving directions, it is not taking my all the way down I-55 South. In the past the map has always gave me directions to stay on I-55 for a little over 300 miles before exiting to another road. When I go in now, it directs me to get off of I-55 after 48 miles to go towards Dyersburg Tennessee, then merge on to TN-20 E, and then onto US 45. It has me staying on US 45 for around 367 miles! Is US 45 a two way highway? Why in the world would it take me off of a 4 lane interstate to travel on this highway? I can't find my map from last year to compare the differences. Anyone know these directions or have an opinion? Please help. I am going on vacation in June.
Where can I ride my own jet ski in south florida? Like I'm looking for a list and map of some sort of all the permitted zones and launch points where I can take my Jet Ski or motor boat particularly around the Miami area. I still wonder however, how is it that I am able to see motor boats off the coast of Hollywood beach though?
Need Recommendation for Apartments in Deerfield or Boca Raton, Florida? We've been looking at apartment listing for over two month now and checked out about 14 properties. Even got help from two different realtors with little success. We're looking for a 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment, between 750-900 sq. ft, with washer & dryer, preferably on a second floor or higher, in Deerfield Beach or South Boca Raton, Florida. The exact location on the map could be: East to West - anywhere between A1A (Ocean Blvd) and Military Trail; North to South - Glades Rd to Sample Rd. The budget is under $1250. We are a young couple, first time renters, with no pet or kids. The timing of the move-in is flexible. So far, every location we actually like ends up having terrible reviews. (e.g.:http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/FL-Boca-Raton-The-Heritage-at-Boca-Raton-formerly-Eden-And-Boca-East.html) Can anyone recommend any decent apartements in the specified area? All positive online reviews seem to be fake, thus we have trouble trusting the web or the realtors. Please share your experiences if you ever lived around this area. If you can't make a recommendation, at least let us know which places to avoid. Any good advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
What is it like living near Orlando Florida? My husband and I are planning on relocating to Orange City, Florida from Ohio. I'm twenty and he's twenty one, and he is graduating from college in May. How easy is it for him to get a job in the IT field, and how's the economy around Orlando, Daytona Beach, Winter Park, and other places around there? Is Orange City a good place to live that's safe? Basically, how exactly is it like living in Orange City, Florida, and close by Orlando and Daytona Beach? Google Maps says that it is exactly 36 minutes to Orlando and 36 minutes to Daytona Beach. Is that accurate? We chose Orange City because of that reason, and don't want to be further from the beach, if possible. We just want to make sure we are making the right decision to move to Orange City.
is there a map showing the region affected by the bp oil spill? It's the time of year when people are planning their summer vacations and a lot of people will be wanting to hit the beaches on the southern coast, so is there a map or graphic that shows where the oil is? (like how far down the coast of florida it is?)
Is Florida really as bad as I'm making it out to be? This started out as a simple question about Florida, but then I got a bunch of ignorant responses from mouth-breathing floridians and I just went off on a crazy tangent...I tried to copy and paste the original posts in an effort to make it as coherent as possible to new readers....it starts out as a sort of NJ vs, FL people come here to exploit it, vacation for a while then get the hell back to real society...baseball teams use it to train, disneyworld set up shop so they could make money all year 50 minutes ago As far as NJ being the armpit, I'd much rather be the armpit than the uncircumcised crooked penis of the country. NJ has infinitly better beaches and the best boardwalk in the world, and thats FL's only claim to fame, their beaches and we got them beat, on top of which we have legalized gambling, 30 minutes to NY arguably america's best city and 30 minutes to Philly which not only houses the declaration of independence but the constitution as well, we got culture coming out the ***, not to mention america's top university. You cant compare the two, we have you losers beat at every angle. 25 minutes ago And as far as any significant person coming out of Florida, they all hate it...Johnny Depp is from here and left as soon as he could claiming it was like the town in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, nothing ever happens and will never happen...and thats all you have unless you want to include losers like Tosh.0 who quoted Florida as being"hot, flat, and dumb" Now Jersey not only has stars we have superstars, Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholsen, Frank Sinatra...and they all love NJ. Not to mention where Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb and Albert Einstein did his most important work. Florida is designed for morons who do not want to think, ;lain and simple, everything is packaged for convenience, its like a fast food state, dont get me wrong, its great to come here for a week get wild and party but once you leave your skidmark on this hot, unpleasnatly, humid, arachnid swarming, hurricane riddled mess its time to get the hell out. 15 minutes ago Only a brain dead philistine totally devoid of any imagination and personality would want to call this place home and be proud. This is the kind of place where all those to Catch a Predator shows are filmed..the kind of rancid environment that produces putrid filth like Aileen Wournos. I wish a hurricane would wipe this embarassment off the map. 12 minutes ago I wouldn't even think twice about this hole if I didn't get stuck down here...and why did I get stuck down here...because the morons who inhabit this mockery to the democratic process helped get that genius George Bush elected not once but twice and totally destroyed the fabric of our society and economy. The people of Florida should be stoned in the streets, they're shameless. If they had a shred of dignity they would realize their folly and hang their sloped-browed heads in shame. Wha a collection of @$$holes. 7 minutes ago 15 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. Additional Details I can't seem to stop...there is just too much fodder. The girls down here are beyond easy, to the point where even me a guy in my 20s finds it disgusting. Every 19-20 year old girl is already turned out, either has kids already, or is pregnant, sometimes even married and divorced...totally classless. The roads along with city planning must have been done by a person who was fuctionally retarded.....there are so many accidents, people careening around on motorcycles getting killed left and right, which is alright by me, smite that grime off the earth....the architecture is dull and often tacky...the school system is a joke...I worked with a substiute teacher at a part-time job and this ***** was barely literate. The list goes on and on. The filth is unparalleled.....how many strip clubs and adult book stores can one place really need....I'll admit I've been to a few strip clubs but never an adult book store....and its not the fact that they exist or even the abundance in which they exist....its the openness and sheer shamlessness in which they do exist...for example you will have a hardcore strip club right next to a church and an adult bookstore right next to an elementary school....only in a place as tasteless as Florida is this considered morally sound. How can you expect well adjusted citizens in such an environment or functioning adults to be raised around such things...thats why you have such an abundanc of whorish teens and and onslaught of creeps.....never in my life have I seen dense population of hyperly depraved sociopathic borderline rapists, freely walking the streets...in any other place these banes of society are looked down upon and sanctioned to their own dispacable hidden corners of the world....in Florida its just like every other hump u see mindlessly trolling around the streets. I dont know how people aren't Its cool you admit it Roxy...thats all I ask, I dont have anything against you guys.....Master Baiter is clearly from Tampa and proves everything I've said....go kill yourself you waste of life.
Need ideas for Florida, Texas and Minnesota wedding favors!? I'm Minneasotan, he's Texan and the wedding is in Florida! everyone is from out of town and we want them to receive a welcome package with directions, maps, a schedule, a list of local attractions in the area (Palm Beach) and 3 wedding favors that are relative to the 3 states. we're thinking nuts, chocolate, maybe something else small.....not sure what the states are really known for....help? unfortunetly, not cheesy, custom for destination weddings.
Where can you look at the pictures of houses near mine? I lost my dog and someone said that they saw her in a white house with a fence and it had shingles for the roof. And I am 13 so I can't drive and no one will drive me around so, I need a way to see all of the house in a 20 mile distance of my house if possible. I live in Blue Mountain Beach, Florida btw. And I already tried Google Maps and it didn't really help
Do people tend to exaggerate South Florida? I grew up in Florida, and loved it. Though, I feel lots of people exaggerate the lifestyle. I lived in Coral Springs & Tamerac for five years, and then moved to Lake Worth for another five years which is in Palm Beach County. I moved to Georgia when I was in the 5th grade, which sure is different. I see shows like Privileged on the CW, and stuff on TV about how great it is and how wealthy it is. I could only see this if you see those houses on the beach, but that's like everywhere in Florida. I knew the area pretty darn good, and still go there about once a year to visit family. I just never got the vibe of how news and media puts it. I mean they never tell you the bad things such as all those Hurricanes, Humidity, and lots of rain. When people write about it and talk about it just seems like the exaggerate it. I know Palm Beach well and there are some bad spots. I've also been to Miami, and think it is terrible. There is the good spots and the bad spots, but that's everywhere. Has South Florida just drastically changed in the last couple of years? When we lived there we pretty much lived the normal middle class family in a 5 bedroom house. The house market got too expensive, and I know a lot of people who can't afford it anymore. I wanted to go to like NYU or USC for college, but I don't know if it is just TV or real life. I would like to go back to South Florida, but do not see the big picture. I could tell you my parents really didn't like Florida, and my cousins and my brothers were like the only kids to grow up there. When people talk about Florida, they seem like it is paradise. I think it is fine, but not Heaven. It seems it is just a lot of New Yorkers coming down to get some heat. Also, do you consider Florida to be in the South? I say that I'm not from the South, and people ask where am I from. I say Florida, and most people are like that's the South. I mean it is on a map, but no one is from the South. It is so funny because most people think I'm from NY when I never lived there. My mom has a strong accent though. When I came to Georgia it was a big change, when people started to say Y'all. Thanks, and what's your input on how South Florida is today and do you think people glamorize it up?
California or Florida? I am planning a trip on labor day weekend and can not decide between the two. All I want is to relax by a beach somewhere away from Texas. California: Not sure where but the typical Hollywood attractions are out of the question. Florida: Between Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando (minus the theme parks), key west, and ft. Myers. I will be with my significant other so we want a little romantic relaxing getaway. Any suggestions on which one and what attractions they have to offer? I have been through many sites but I would like to know the off the map secrets they have to offer... if any. Well I do live in Texas so the weather is not very different as far as heat and humidity.

What do you think of this map? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d1/New_Spain.png Spain and later Mexico use to own chunks of usa. I hate gringos enjoying California's, Texas's and Florida's beaches when it should be Spaniards and Mexicans enjoying them. Imagine if anti american countries like Russia, Germany, Italy, Japan, China, Korea helped Mexico and Spain get back their territory. Only France and England would help USA. THIS IS USA's FUTURE MAP WHEM MEXICO AND SPAIN TAKE OVER. shut up aguila 14
Will the Oil Spill reach Destin, Florida by June 20th? Please take the time to answer this with A LOT of detail (I will read it all). This is very important. Pictures, maps, videos would be great, too. I will be going on vacation in Destin. If the oil does decide to go there, what are some other great vacation spots? We surely want to go to a CLEAN beach. We also plan on doing water sports like parachuting ,jet skiing, ocean trampoline, ETC. Please let me know! :) ( not parachuting, PARASAILING, sorry.)
Is Gulfport, Florida a Dirty City? From what I can tell from google map images, and various photos posted online, Stetson University and Seaside Villas are the nicest looking buildings in this area, and everything else looks run down. From what I can tell most streets are filled with tiny, trailer looking homes, and there isn't much of a beach or tropical feel, but more of a camp ground type community. Am I right? Are there any parts of the city with large, new homes? Are there typical gated type communities in gulfport? Are Stetson and Seaside Villa misleading. There seems to be an attraction to this city online, but why? Simply for the art district? What about someone that is looking to live there? Coming from a northeast city with amazing architecture, will this city be a disappointment if I choose to move there to attend Stetson for law school?
Has Rush Limbaugh's east Florida house come close to being hit by any hurricanes? This individual has spent his whole career disrespecting the laws of nature, and getting paid extreme amounts for pathological lying, which enables him to live in a beach area with great natural appeal. In fact, he owns 5 houses in the same block. http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/rush-limbaughs-house/ http://theweek.com/article/index/203337/rush-limbaughs-estate-an-insiders-guide Life isn't fair, but you'd think a hurricane would come up with his number on it. Or does Palm Beach have a natural immunity to the worst impacts? It seems so. But maybe AGW will change that. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/weather/hurricane/sfl-hc-canehistory1,0,3352010.special

Now why the heck would anyone, want to watch Vanilla Ice doing some home renovations for? Vanilla Ice is set to make his reality TV debut in America this week with a series showcasing the rapper's home renovation methods. Premiering in primetime on DIY Network, The Vanilla Ice Project is a 10-episode half-hour show focusing on the Ice Ice Baby star's attempt to overhaul a 7000-square-foot home in Palm Beach, Florida. The show offers a different side of Vanilla Ice (real name: Robert Van Winkle) that he's excited to reveal. "I think it's cool. There's no shame in my game," he told Billboard.com. "I'm an entertainer, and whether it's flipping houses or making music, I cater to the people who care about what I'm doing out there." According to Vanilla Ice, the show quickly came together after executives at DIY Network discovered his passion for real estate and self-taught home improvement skills. The rapper had recently purchased the Palm Beach mansion after its previous owner "lost a lot of money in it and basically gutted the entire house ... every cabinet was gone, every toilet was gone, even the door frames were gone. "(We thought) it worked well for television, so we filmed a little pilot, sent it to DIY and they were all over it." With a concept that combines This Old House with Pimp My Ride, The Vanilla Ice Project finds Vanilla Ice and his crew fitting the home with flashy features such as electric drapes, 110-inch projector screens and "fire pods". "The before and after shots are going to be amazing," said the rapper, who spent four and a half months filming. The venture into television has not slowed down Vanilla Ice's musical output, however. Later this year, he plans to independently release WTF, a new album whose title was inspired by its musical diversity. "It's got a lot of hip-hop on it, but it's all over the map," he said. "There's some techno on it. It's got a country song that I've done with Cowboy Troy. I've even got some acoustic, a cappella stuff on there. There's no explicit lyrics on this one, which is good." With a new show and album, Vanilla Ice said that people are paying attention to his story in a way that's reminiscent of when Ice Ice Baby made him a star 20 years ago. "I think people are embracing the whole underdog thing -- it's kind of the American way," he said. "I think it's my time right now. I had a nice wave that was big back in the day, and I caught another wave today and am just enjoying the ride." Can I get out of my At&t Contract? We have had our At&t contract for 6 months. I have been through 2 iPhone, my sister has been through 6 phones (2 xenons, 3 impressions and 1 strive) My mom has been through 2 neons and my dad has been through 2 flights. None of them being an issue on our end all software issues. We never get service at our house and this is a huge problem. My dad is a police officer and is on call 24/7 and with no service in the house how is he supposed to get the calls. He sure isn't going to sit outside 24/7 (which outside at the end of the drive is when we start getting service) just so he doesnt have to worry about missing a call for a call out. We are currently in Florida on vacation and you would guess it. We are in a really bad storm and my dad is at home coming down at a later date and he is worried about us because we have a tornado warning and really bad storms are coming. Well they passed over us and we barely got anything but we went to call him to tell him everything was ok. We looked down NO SERVICE. One last thing we were on our way to Palm Beach Florida and missed a turn and ended up on the outskirts of Fort Lauderdale. I went to get on my iphone out to use my google maps. NO SERVICE. This is just crazy it seems everywhere we go we get no service. We should not have to worry in our own home if we will get service or not or when our phones will start working again. We have been on the phone with them just about every 2 weeks since we have had them either for phone issues or service issues. I filed a complaint with the BBB, FCC and FTC. Is there any way we will be able to get out of our contract. We can't have no service anymore. Thanks.
Law enforcement/ANALYTICAL minds: about this add, Google Map, and codes? For couple of days I have been seeing these ads on Craigslists' Apartments/Housing category in South Florida section advertised by a supposed out of state realtor, who happens to be licensed in Florida. Seeing how ridiculously low the rent price advertised is, I know this is totally fraudulent in the best case scenario, and in the worst it could be some form of communication between some people up to no good. What has mainly alerted me is the fact that one partial street address which she gives and which turns into a complete address (from and by Google Map), situates her supposed property in the middle of downtown, among all government buildings. Another thing I find odd is the tail of "computer or technical numbers and letters" at the end of each of her ads, which takes about half of the advertisement, though there is absolutely no useful information for the customer/renter since none of it is legible. Properties advertise for either $365 or $740. When you click it says $1,400 for six months, then it's $2,500 after that. I doubt very much that all the homes are in exact same design, separated as they are by three counties. Never does a developer, who would happen to design and build hundreds of miles away from each development, do so in the exact same manner. Actually all developers design somewhat similar homes but with complete different added features. And how come it is only penthouses which are available, and all at the exact same price, especially when everyone knows that in Palm Beach county rents are considerably lower than in Miami-Dade county? Least we can say is that this person is misrepresenting everything and misleading the public. But to all analytical minds out there, can you take a look to see, just in case this is not only this but something more sinister?
Is this legal and does it promote more illegal immigration? I just saw this ad under ROOMS & SHARED in the HOUSING category of CRAIGSLIST for SOUTH FLORIDA. I have erased the contact information provided, but anyone can go in to the SOUTH FLORIDA section there and see for themselves. Aside S. Florida being at its worst concerning all types of fraud and apparently even human trafficking, it has new ways each time to attract illegal immigration. Even on TV we are bombarded with ads supposedly for visas and employer-sponsored individuals which are not supposed to apply for any government benefits and it is the first thing they do once they set foot through Miami International Airport and cannot find a job because there was no job waiting for them at all and of course they know this. I am not referring to Cuban migrants or immigrants or however you call them, I refer to Argentinians and Venezuelan mostly. Where do you live the beautiful people in U.S.? ? Normally, we see in Hollywood movies that leave many beautiful girls in the movies, blondes high and features beautiful girls, dark ... not bad at beaches sunbathing or strolling in the city or tourist zones such as promenades by the sea, or playing some sport outdoors ... for example that TV serie Film shows the number of 'Bay Watch', (with (David Hasselhoff) on the beaches of Los Angeles, California. Then one sees on the internet that is not all that pretty Jenter live in all those sites that shows film in Hollywood. And aunuqe tourist areas with a climate and good beaches agradeble is always a big attraction ... On the other hand, lives more Jenter in central and eastern U.S. coast, which in the West Coast as I have seen on a map of population. Statistically more likely to live where Jenter or more people, more likely to be able to find Jenter pretty. Can we find such beautiful places as Jenter Meriland, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago or Detroit Massachusetts, as in places such as sun and beach tourist California or Florida ? Where do you live the beautiful people in U.S.? Where it will be easier to see american' beautiful people? Is it concentrated in a few places of great weather beautiful beaches and sun, or rather, are scattered throughout the United States?
Has the left forgot all about their hateful past, during Bush's term? Does this not prove just how hypocritical the left truly is? I still remember the protests with a Bush doll hanging from the noose. The best they can come up with is crosshairs on an election map and generalized 'hateful' speech from right wing media, of course with no specific examples. NOBODY on Fox has wished for the death of any politician, too bad you can't say that about MSNBC. Here are a few examples for your proof. Here are some lowlights of the left-wing media’s death wishes: ■ “I’m waiting for the day when I pick it up, pick up a newspaper or click on the Internet and find out he’s choked to death on his own throat fat or a great big wad of saliva or something, you know, whatever. Go away, Rush, you make me sick!” — Left-wing radio host Mike Malloy on the January 4, 2010 Mike Malloy Show, talking about Rush Limbaugh going to the hospital after suffering chest pains. ■ MSNBC’s Chris Matthews in 2009 fantasized about the death of Rush Limbaugh: “Somebody’s going to jam a CO2 pellet into his head and he’s going to explode like a giant blimp” ■ Author/humorist P.J. O’Rourke: “It’s the twilight of the radio loud-mouth, you know? I knew it from the moment the fat guy-” Host Bill Maher: “You mean Rush Limbaugh and Sean-” O’Rourke: “-from the moment the fat guy refused to share his drugs….” Maher: “You mean the OxyContin that he was on?…Why couldn’t he have croaked from it instead of Heath Ledger?” — HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, February 8, 2008. ■ MSNBC’s Amy Robach in 2006 mildly wondered if “Death of a President” movie depicting the imagined assassination of President Bush was “poor taste or, as some say, thought-provoking?” ■ On his radio show in 2009, Ed Schultz wished for Dick Cheney’s death: “He is an enemy of the country, in my opinion, Dick Cheney is, he is an enemy of the country … Lord, take him to the Promised Land, will you?” ■ Also on his radio show, in 2010, Schultz shouted: “Dick Cheney’s heart’s a political football. We ought to rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him!” ■ Then-Air America host Montel Williams in 2009 urged Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to kill herself: “Slit your wrist! Go ahead! I mean, you know, why not? I mean, if you want to – or, you know, do us all a better thing. Move that knife up about two feet. I mean, start right at the collarbone.” ■ Writing on the Huffington Post in 2007, radio host Charles Karel Bouley mocked: “I hear about Tony Snow and I say to myself, well, stand up every day, lie to the American people at the behest of your dictator-esque boss and well, how could a cancer NOT grow in you? Work for Fox News, spinning the truth in to a billion knots and how can your gut not rot?” ■ “I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.” — Host Bill Maher on his HBO show Real Time, March 2, 2007, discussing how a few commenters at a left-wing blog were upset that an attempt to kill Vice President Cheney in Afghanistan had failed. ■ “Earlier today, a rental truck carried a half a million ballots from Palm Beach to the Florida Supreme Court there in Tallahassee. CNN had live helicopter coverage from the truck making its way up the Florida highway, and for a few brief moments, America held the hope that O.J. Simpson had murdered Katherine Harris.” — Bill Maher on ABC’s Politically Incorrect, November 30, 2000. ■ Host Tina Gulland: “I don’t think I have any Jesse Helms defenders here. Nina?” NPR’s Nina Totenberg: “Not me. I think he ought to be worried about what’s going on in the Good Lord’s mind, because if there is retributive justice, he’ll get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it.” — Exchange on the July 8, 1995 Inside Washington, after Helms said the government spends too much on AIDS. ■ “I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease….He is an absolutely reprehensible person.” — USA Today columnist and Pacifica Radio talk show host Julianne Malveaux on Justice Clarence Thomas, November 4, 1994 PBS To the Contrary. http://www.mediaresearch.org/realitycheck/realitycheck/2011/20110111020540.aspx
Is it a good idea to buy a vacation house in the Daytona beach now in FL? Is it a good idea to buy a vacation house in the Daytona beach now in FL? I am living in the Northeast New England area and dreaming to own a vacation house near the beach. Given the current housing market condition in Florida, is it a good time to buy such a house in the daytona beach now? My budget is limitted to 60K. I don't know much of Florida although I went to Orland in the March three years ago and like that place. I looked at the map and found the daytona beach is close to the highways and within the driving distance to the Disney world. Is it a viable idea to buy a house there, rent it out at most of times and have a vaction for a few weeks with family there? All suggestions are very appreciated.
Best maps for drivers? I've just learned how to drive, I'll be needing to go to school, a little far away. I need to find out where to order the best maps for drivers. These maps should be of Palm Beach County, around Lake Worth and Boca Raton, in Florida. I know there are technological advances, that now people use those satellite little boxes that tell you everything, but not everyone can afford them, so I'll have to do with maps. But I don't know where to order them. Anyone can tell me, I'd be very grateful. I've tried some websites, with little results. I'm not trying to print out maps, I need to find those clear solid maps. Help me please, Yahoo Answers geniuses! Help Archange find his way out of this!
Where is Pensacola, FL? I already live in Florida but I can't find a map that shows me where that is related to Daytona Beach. I don't know if it's north, south, east, or west of Daytona and I don't know what landmarks it's by such as universities or attractions so if you could just tell me or give me a link that would be much appreciated.
NEED HELP WITH Math homework Please help me with it if you would please.? A local paper, The Know-it-All, decided to run a story on how most Americans were planning to spend the upcoming weekend. It was the third week in January and most reporters were already out covering top stories. So, the editor decided to give one of the new reporters a chance to cover this topic. The reporter, who called himself "Ace," needed to choose a sample to survey. He looked at a map and chose a county in Southern Florida. Ace conducted a survey of 50 people, including men, women, and children. Then, he proudly handed in his article, titled "78% of Americans Will Soon Head to the Beach!" Is Ace's story an example of biased statistics? Explain your answer. Rewrite Ace's title to better reflect his sample set. What sample set could Ace have chosen to better represent the targeted population? Describe how you might survey your selected sample set. What method of sampling would you use? If you were Ace's editor, would you run this story? Explain your answer
How can i find some Dday remnants on Google maps? Does anyone know an address i can enter into google maps that will allow me to zoom down and see some of the remnants of the concrete mullberry's or German Artillery placements left over from the Dday invasion at the beaches of Normandy... possiblly near the town of Caan or somewhere? I have been zooming in all along the coast of the Normandy beaches along the coast of France but I cannot see any pictures of anything out in the English channel, although i know there are some concrete structures that were left there... what is an address I can enter to be near them to zoom into to see them? Thanks in advance, Perry in FLorida Are those Dday remnants i am seeing in the water just in front of this address?: 14960 Asnelles, France
Travel from WPB to Cape Coral? I will be driving from West Palm Beach on the East coast of Florida to Cape Coral on the West coast. Normally I would drive across US 75 (Alligator Alley) but Google Maps suggest I take FL-80 across. And then halfway through it makes a detour on US-27. Why can't I just take 80 all the way across? Why the detour? And if the route via US 75 is faster, should I even bother with 80? Has anyone taken a similar drive before and can anyone comment? Need help creating a setting for a book--Which cities in the US best fit these descriptions (in details)? The first is a city that's mostly sunny and warm (Florida is the state that comes to mind, but it doesn't have to be in Fla!), within an hour drive of a beach, and within an hour or two hour drive of some mountains. A classy city that doesn't have a HUGE night-time scene, but maybe a college town with a couple of bars where mostly college kids go out. (In other words, cities like Miami would be "too dirty" for what I'm going for). The other place I'm looking for needs to be a small town, preferably one that is about a 3-hour drive from the city mentioned above. This one should be very small and country in nature....not one you'd find on the map... Do you think it's better to use real or "make believe" cities and towns for fiction stories? Any help?
Where are the places in this video?!?!?!? So I can skate them!!!!!!!!? I know it's in Orlando, FL but I would like more detail. I live in Florida and I would like to try these spots for skating. Could some one get directions FROM: Flagler Beach, FL to where each one of these spots are on, on google maps please!!!!!!!!!!! the video is on http://www.fuel.tv/FUELTV/videos/view/8831 or on iTunes under podcasts search Orlando: Skate Tour or search Dew Underground and scroll down to podcast video 115 where it says Orlando: Orlando Skate Tour
This title for a book? I'm currently writing my second book and I already have the entire thing mapped out and outlined in my head. The only problem is I can't think of a title. I can't start writing until I have the title. Here's a quick run down of the story: Olivia decides to leave her mom and home in Washington to spend her summer before college in Jannesen, Florida with her dad and his new wife, Ella, and stepdaughter, Morgan. She thought she had it all figured out but while in the quaint, little town near the beach, she soon learns and discovers things about herself, with the help of an unexpected comrade - the town's mystery boy, of course. Some of the titles I have come up with, but are unsatisfied with, are: Olivia's Way The House on the Beach Thanks to the House on the Beach Salt and Sun Sand in My Shoes Come With Me Olivia on Her Way All suggestions, opinions, and critiques are welcome! Please let me know what you think. Thank you!

Moving to Orange County Orlando, FL help? Is it that bad? I'll be attending the International Academy of Art and Design this summer and I'll be moving to Orange County Orlando next month. The apartments I'll be moving into are called Millenia West it's on S Texas Ave and it's near an Americana Blvd. Apartment Area code: 32839 International Academy of Design and Technology Area code: 32809 I've heard really bad things about the area but I'm hoping it's not as bad as it seems. You know how some places have certain streets that you just don't go down? And certain streets that are a little safer... is this area like that? Is S Texas Ave one of the safer streets? I've already paid money to hold the apartment and the lady says that other college students live there... so if other students live in the apartments can't be that bad right? I hope I haven't made a terrible mistake... This is the apartment that I am getting ready to rent out http://www.berkshireapartments.com/realpage/realpage.aspx?prpURL=milleniawest The location should be on the website too... I seriously hope I haven't made a mistake... I've grew up in a ghetto up north and I've seen the ghettos in Florida as well, but these apartments don't look as ghetto... And it seems to be set back from the rest of the neighborhood... Is it that bad? I'm currently in West Palm Beach and over here one side is really ghetto and the otherside (where I live) is very nice. Hopefully Orange County is like that too... I mean that's where the International Academy of Design and Technology is located, a college wouldn't be located in a really ghetto area would it? ...I was looking on Google maps' satellite view, and the area looked very decent... kind of like a small town... The apartment is about a 20 min walk from the school... I don't have a car ...I think I've made a huge mistake... :'( :(

Need Recommendation for Apartments in Deerfield or Boca Raton, Florida? We've been looking at apartment listings for over two months now and checked out about 14 properties. Thank you!

How close are these hotels in Florida? My cousins and I are going on vacation to Florida. We're both staying in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They're staying at The Harbor Beach Marriott Resort and Spa and we're staying at The Lago Mar Resort. My question is how close together are these two hotels? Is the MacArthur Causeway in Miami, Florida a toll road? I'm moving to Miami for six weeks and will be at the Miami Childrens Hospital. Rent seems to be cheaper in South Beach for short term rentals. However, I wanted to know if the MacArthur Causeway is a toll road. I'm fairly certain the Venetian is, but wanted information from a local resident. Additionally, is the commute bad? I've used Google mapping to estimate, but traffic can really throw it off. Will there be any delays with the bridge? I'll be going to the hospital around 5 in the morning, but don't know what time I'll be coming back (probably anywhere from 4-7). Any firsthand accounts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does the North USA really want the South out? http://www.lewrockwell.com/yates/yates30.html Northerners Want Us Out? By All Means Let’s Oblige Them! by Steven Yates Johnny Jay: Did you know that there are some folks in the North that are tired of us Southerners and think we should be tossed out on our fannies? Billy Ray: You’re kidding me! Johnny Jay: No, it’s right here, in this column "Let’s Ditch Dixie" by Mark Strauss. Billy Ray: Never heard of him. Johnny Jay: He’s a senior editor at Foreign Affairs. That’s Council on Foreign Relations. Billy Ray: At least we know what to expect. Johnny Jay: Well, what he does is make fun of the League of the South and their Declaration of Southern Cultural Independence – signed last year in Montgomery. He also ridicules the Southern associations of folks like John Ashcroft and Gale Norton, calling the latter the GOP’s "honorary Dixie chick," but then he makes an allegation that’s nothing short of astounding – coming from a Yankee. Billy Ray: Which is? Johnny Jay: That the North and the South "can no longer claim to be one nation." Billy Ray: A Northerner said that? Johnny Jay: Yes, and a lot more besides. He mentions last year’s electoral map, but it’s almost like he saw the infamous county-by-county map and actually figured out what it means. The one showing all the "red counties" that voted for George W. Bush and all the "blue counties" that went for Al Gore. Billy Ray: They showed that counties full of our people, tending to be rural, Southern, or western – except for the heavy Hispanic regions way out west – tended to go for Bush. All the urban areas tended to go for Gore. Johnny Jay: True, but they also show how Bush won the South hands down, and that without the South he wouldn’t have won. He doesn’t think much of our culture, that’s for sure. He uses references to NASCAR and WCW fans to ridicule it. But the guy’s at least noticed – there’s something different about the South that makes it not like the North – meaning by that the Northeast, mainly. Billy Ray: And his conclusion is that instead of us having to fight our way free, like we tried to do just over 140 years ago, that we be kicked out instead? Johnny Jay: Here’s what he says: "… North and South should simply follow the example of the Czech Republic and Slovakia: shake hands, says [sic.] its been real, and go their separate ways. And if the South isn’t inclined to leave anytime soon, then we should show them the door by seceding unilaterally." Billy Ray: Northern secession?! Johnny Jay: Yup. He says we’re dominating them, because of Southerners in the White House, Southerners picking up population, votes in the Electoral College… Gore won California, New York and Pennsylvania, and he still couldn’t win the election. He couldn’t even win his home state. Billy Ray: Because of the Dixie mindset? Johnny Jay: Yup. This guy even says that the Democrats are becoming "Dixiefied." Yankee liberal progressives no longer have their own party. That explains Ralph Nader. But here’s the really good part. Listen to this: [Reads]: "The South is a gangrenous limb that should have been lopped off decades ago. More people live below the poverty line in the old Confederacy than in the Northeast and Midwest combined – " Billy Ray: Couldn’t their policies have something to do with that? Going all the way back to the War of Yankee Aggression that burned down our cities and towns and raped our land? We never really recovered. Johnny Jay: Could be. Anyway: "You are three times more likely to be murdered in parts of Dixie than anywhere in New England – " Billy Ray: Aw, c’mon, that’s horsehockey! Guess this guy’s never spent much time in New York City or downtown Washington, D.C. Johnny Jay: Doesn’t say. Goes on with more benefits to having an independent Northern state, though, such as – hmmm – higher average test scores, more opportunities for women, less opposition to gay rights. Billy Ray: More logical thought? Johnny Ray: He doesn’t go that far. Billy Ray: I hope not. Johnny Jay: But he does say that without Dixie the Northerns will be able to pass tougher gun laws, legislation barring discrimination against homosexuals, and that won’t have to deal with those annoying commercials offering Dale Earnhardt memorabilia for sale. Billy Ray: Ah. Why don’t we trade. We’ll keep our Dale Earnhardt memorabilia if they’ll keep their laws. If they want to disarm their own people and their own people don’t care, let ‘em. I rather like the idea, if the North is independent from us. Why don’t we give a good Rebel yell tell this guy, hell yeah, let’s go for it. We’ll leave you alone if you’ll leave us alone! I may not like their stupid laws, but I like this guy’s solution to his "Dixie problem." Johnny Jay: Well…. There’s a catch. Billy Ray: Oh? If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. What else does this joker say? Johnny Jay: He thinks that an independent North will be able to "cure" us Dixie-ites of our bad habits. Listen to this: [reading again]: "With the South banished from the Union, we could begin to correct the most objectionable aspects of Southern behavior with the same tools we use to engage countries such as China: by making trade and continued foreign aid contingent upon sincere efforts to clean up the environment and improve human rights. We could implement "Plan South Carolina" to convince tobacco growers to develop alternative crops. Northern observers could ensure democracy in Florida polling places. Peace Corps volunteers could teach the necessary skills – " Billy Ray: Whoa, wait just a cotton pickin’ minute! That’s not separation, that’s just more Yankee imperialism! Why should we want to trade with them, anyway? Johnny Jay: I guess this guy thinks we’ll end up like China. Billy Ray: Wonderful that he’s bothered to research the South and find out a little about us, isn’t it? Has he forgotten that a Southerner penned the Declaration of Independence? That our ancestors contributed massively to writing the U.S. Constitution – and then led to the adding of the Bill of Rights when it wasn’t clear that the Constitution didn’t centralize the new government too much? Johnny Jay: Oh, this Strauss fellow is in love with centralization. He’s Council on Foreign Relations, after all. Remember? Billy Ray: He hasn’t figured out yet that centralizing the government, the economy, you name it, doesn’t work? That it hasn’t worked anywhere it’s been tried? This guy talks out our test scores. Johnny Jay: Limited to "public school" kids. Billy Ray: Figures. They don’t teach about our ancestors there anymore, or so I hear. They’re more likely to teach tolerance and tree-hugging. I’ve heard they’re trying to introduce ethnic math, or something like that. Johnny Jay: That’s the Yankee influence. Or maybe Left Coast. Hard to tell, when you get right down to it. Billy Ray: Then that’s why the test scores are falling. And I hear theirs aren’t exactly setting the world on fire, either. Johnny Jay: No. They’re falling everywhere. Or so I hear. Not that that’s what counts. It’s not enough just to be educated. It helps to know what is right, and do it. Lenin and Stalin were both smart cookies, after all. Billy Ray: They’ll never get there by making homosexuals an affirmative action group. Johnny Jay: You know that, and I know it. Anyway – and this is really sad! – this guy Strauss’s piece ends by comparing us to the Russians. Billy Ray: He does what??? Johnny Jay: Just listen: "[T]he only obvious downside is that the South would almost certainly insist on keeping the 3,150 nuclear warheads that are scattered throughout Georgia, Texas, Louisiana and Virginia. Maybe we could strike a deal to get those nukes back, the same way Russia did with Ukraine after the Soviet Union broke up. If not, then perhaps national missile defense might not be such a bad idea after all." Billy Ray: That is sad! Not to mention paranoid. Sounds like he’s afraid of us. Johnny Jay: I rather agree. He’s right about the different cultures, though, and about how leftists keep running up against Dixie as the main factor keeping them from getting their way. So if it ever comes to pass that the powers that be up in Northern la-la land want us out, we ought to oblige them – so long as we close our borders afterwards! They won’t get our missiles, and they won’t be able to migrate down here in droves to escape their crime rate and their awful weather. Billy Ray: They’ll regret letting us go so easily. Johnny Jay: But it’ll be too late! [Smiles gleefully.] Billy Ray: So how’d they get that way. Guys like this Strauss, that is. Johnny Jay: Wasn’t from reading that other Strauss, that’s for sure. The one named Leo. Seriously, it goes back to what we were saying about centralization. We have these two basic philosophies, the one coming out of the Northeast that’s basically secular and materialist. The way it’s evolved, it favors expansionist government, high taxes to support it, welfare, dependency, gun control, multiculturalism, affirmative action, feminism, open homosexuality, bad food and bad music. The other comes from down here. We’re still basically Christian and want to depend only on God and our families, but otherwise on our own two feet in a free economy. We believe that independence is a good thing and that manliness is a good thing – that’s why so many of us are NASCAR fans, by the way. We like real men, not the silly flower children of Ivy League campuses and Left Coast beaches. And women who really are women, not Janet Renos and Donna Shalalas – or Hillary Clintons. We’re just daring the clowns running Washington to try and take away our guns. We think affirmative action is nothing more than quotas and preferences that discriminate against white men. We don’t think men and women are interchangeable. We’re still ‘backward’ and think homosexuality is a sin. We’re loyal to something besides money and power. Our sense of place is reflected in our music. We prefer songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" to noise-set-to-a-beat about killing cops. Ever hear anybody call New York City or Washington, D.C., "sweet" anything? But anyway, it all comes down to this: accept the world view that’s taken over the North and you get one solution whether you realize it or not: in the last analysis, power gets the last word. That’s why they end up trying to centralize everything in sight. That’s why even after they’ve kicked us Dixie-ites out, they’ll conduct an economic war of imperialism designed to control us, to rid themselves of our "corrupting" influences. Behind all the power-obsession, though, is something they dare not face – not honestly, anyway. A sort of emptiness. The emptiness of the soul that comes from accepting that this life is all you have, that morality is just a man-made creation, and that you might as well grab for whatever goodies you can get because once it’s over, it’s over. Billy Ray: Hmmm! Sad. But if they ever want us out and they mean it…. Johnny Jay: Then I guess we’ll have to oblige them. Billy Ray: This is just one writer, though, for a Northern Internet site hardly anyone reads because it’s so liberal. The folks running the Washington Empire wouldn’t let us go so easily. Johnny Jay: ‘Fraid not. Billy Ray: They’d miss those vacation spots too much once we closed our borders. Johnny Jay: And don’t forget that terrific mustard-based barbecue sauce we’ve got down here in South Carolina! Billy Ray: That too! Johnny Jay: Well, I’ve had some Boston clam chowder. It was pretty good. Billy Ray: [Looks contrite.] Oh, I’m sorry. They’ve accomplished one thing up there…. Best beach to go to from Atlanta, without too much driving? I'm looking to go to the beach for a family trip. However, I don't want to drive too far. What is a good beach to go to? I personally heard that the Georgia beaches aren't so good. I've also heard that Hilton Head, SC is fairly decent. Is this true? Is it worthwhile to go there? Going down to Florida is a bit too long (I don't want to drive more than 7 hours, less would be better). According to Google Maps, going down to Jacksonville, FL takes less than 6 hours. How is the beach there? Probably not as good as Miami, but still good...? Any suggestions appreciated =) After looking at pictures of beaches, I decided to take out South Carolina as an option. Meredith, you say that Mexico Beach is quiet. You mean there's not a lot of people? That would be idea. Are there any other places on the Florida Panhandle that are not crowded? Thanks.
